Discussion Columns are not Copied as Discussions in View Copy

When I use a viewCopy dxl any Discussion column comes in to the new module as a Layout DXL. The DXL exactly matches the DXL output from the dxl(column c) function on the Discussion column, however the layout DXL column does not display any discussions even though there are Discussions in the Module.

Does anyone know a way to copy a view and preserve a column as a Discussion column?

I saw a similar post in the forum that mentions copying attributes first but I am not sure how that applies.
